Aligned Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals is one of the first LLP firms in Colorado, launching in July 2026 with it's founding member, Laura Landon-Newton.
Our mission is to create an environment of alignment with you, your goals, and our passion for providing quality services to people who need guidance and cannot afford high priced attorneys.

Where can I find the full list of rules related to LLP licensure and representation?
How much will this cost? It is our goal to provide affordable legal guidance and we make every effort to keep your fees and costs down, but there truly is no way to predict the actions of the opposing party or their counsel. If staying on a monthly budget during your case, or using a flat fee structure would be a better fit than full representation, be sure to speak with your LLP about these options.
What are unbundled services and is this the right choice for my case? Unbundled services allow you to remain in charge of your own case as the primary action taker while having your legal counsel provide support in the background. There are advantages to this approach, such as controlling the costs and how much, or little, legal assistance you pay for. It can be an excellent tool either prior to filing your legal action or early in the case. However, there are also risks to this approach and it is important to be fully aware of what your services include. If you do not have an attorney or LLP as full representation in your case, you may miss deadlines or be unaware of proceedings in your case or how to respond to filings. Unbundled services may not be right when your case has complex matters and deadlines are approaching.
Can I use unbundled services and then switch to full representation later? Absolutely! This is a great way to manage the initial phases of fact-finding and gaining legal advice. Your unbundled LLP can often easily switch to full representation. Be aware there is often a new fee agreement and retainer to address when switching representation styles. Also, if your case is too close to trial, your LLPs may not have time to prepare for full representation and may decline.
What is a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP)?
The State of Colorado licenses Legal Paraprofessionals (LLPs) to provide legal services in family law. Unlike attorneys, who hold a general license to practice law across many areas, LLPs are licensed specifically — and exclusively — for family law matters.
To earn licensure, LLPs must pass a specialized bar exam and meet the same character and financial fitness standards required of attorneys.
A helpful comparison is the Nurse Practitioner model: just as Nurse Practitioners work both alongside physicians and independently within their scope of practice, LLPs collaborate with attorneys while also maintaining the autonomy to represent clients on their own.
The LLP designation is new to Colorado as of June 2024, and it was created with a clear purpose: to expand access to legal help for people who may not have been able to afford traditional attorney representation in family law matters — including divorce, custody disputes, and protection orders.
