Welcome to Aligned

An LLP Firm

Aligned Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals is one of the first LLP firms in Colorado, launching in July 2026 with it's founding member, Laura Landon-Newton.

This firm is created with the specific intent of providing more help to more people going through family law cases.

  • At Aligned, we want you to feel ALIGNED with your counsel. You should be confident that you've been heard and that your goals are supported throughout your case.

  • The core values of this firm will remained ALIGNED as it grows - additional LLPs will be added to the team who exhibit the highest level of quality of work and care for the client that is characteristic of the Aligned culture.

  • Finally, to the extend you and your ex-partner or co-parent can become ALIGNED, we will make it a priority to find that solution through mediation and other non-litigation strategies.

What is an LLP?

LLPs are licensed by the State of Colorado to provide legal services in the area of family law. LLPs do not have a general license to practice law like attorneys do – LLP are licensed to practice specifically and only family law. LLPs take a specialized bar exam to obtain their licensure and must go through the same rigorous character and financial fitness tests as attorneys. LLPs are often compared to the Nurse Practitioner profession – this analogy is appropriate as LLPs work alongside attorneys (just as NPs work with doctors), but also have their own autonomy to practice law. The LLP profession is new to Colorado as of June 2024 and brings affordability and choice to many people who did not previously have access to legal help for their family law cases (divorce, custody, protection orders, etc.).

LLPs can represent clients in divorce and legal separation matters, invalidity of marriage, pre-decree or post-decree matters; establishing, enforcing and modifying child support; remedial contempt; name changes; protective orders; adult gender designation changes; allocation or modification of parental responsibilities; and two-party parentage cases. LLPs are here to stay and are eager to provide affordable legal services!
