Laura Landon-Newton

Licensed Legal Paraprofessional

Laura began her legal career in 2009 as a construction defect and estate planning paralegal. She found this work interesting, but felt compelled to help in an area for which she had more passion and quickly transitioned to full-time family law. During this time, while raising her two sons, she earned her Bachelor of Legal Studies. She has been working in family law since 2009 and has come to appreciate the opportunity to help clients through difficult and emotional times as they navigate the legal system.

In 2021, Laura was invited to participate in a Colorado Supreme Court initiative to bring another profession to the state - the Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP). Laura volunteered in advocating for this new profession for several years and testified before the Colorado Supreme Court on its behalf in 2022.

The first Colorado Licensed Legal Paraprofessional Bar Exam took place on April 30, 2024. After passing this rigorous exam, Laura became was one of Colorado's first LLPs sworn in at the Colorado Supreme Court on June 20, 2024.

In October, 2024, Laura was invited to joint the Colorado Supreme Court's LLP Oversight Committee and has been serving in that capacity as the only LLP on the Committee. In 2025 she testified once more before the Colorado Supreme Court on behalf of changes to the LLP program that expanded the services LLPs could provide to their clients.

Laura brings experience, diligence and compassion to her mission of helping people through family conflict. Her clients have described her as approachable and offering a confident and calming energy during the trying experiences of domestic conflict and litigation. She also strives to transcend the reputation many lawyers have of being difficult to get a hold of and slow to respond. Yes, schedules can make instantaneous responses impossible, but Laura knows how stressful it can be to feel like you need guidance quickly. Clients have often said that she makes them feel heard and appreciate her responsiveness.

Laura is a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, as well as the Family Law Section of the Bar. She serves on the board of Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals (CCDP) -- an organization dedicated to promoting out-of-court solutions to family law cases. Laura volunteers whenever possible to teach about the profession and to promote the interests of LLPs within the legal community.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys playing golf and pickleball with her husband, Ryan.
